I came across your blog- it’s hilarious. I actually opted out of law school when all of my “fallback” schools accepted me, nothing else. I found it to be perhaps the most mentally daunting exercise to change my course of action (keep in mind, I’m still trying to figure out what the hell I’m doing), but I’m glad I’m not going to a T3 school with over 150k in debt. It’s not practical, well, unless someone gave you that money, but merit scholarships are difficult to get. My LSAT was so-so, but my grades were exceptional. I graduated at the top 15% of a class of 3,000 with a double major.

The point is, if you’re going to go to law school, you should get the most out of your money. There are so many lower-ranked law schools that charge the same as the top 10. That’s asinine.

I like southern california, i’ve lived here for 5 years. At the same time i could use a change.

Any advice? Please.

I want to make it very clear that you are currently my favorite MSS reader. And just for you, I’m thinking of posting the diatribe I composed regarding the attention Trent payed to the attractiveness of the actresses vs the actors on “The Deep End”. Previously, concerns about remaining employed stopped me, but this may be the inspiration I needed.

And I will never complain about a comment that suggests a topic that readers want to hear about. Keep them coming.

Keep calling out the sex sterotypism in other posts. Indeed, the guys are hilarious. But I want a post-law dream that doesn’t involve pseudo british kids and a wife who blows me.

Well step one is to take the LSAT. Don’t worry about what happens afterwards for now, because you’ll just stress yourself out.

After you kick LSAT butt, then you can make some realistic choices about where to apply and why. Again, just because I didn’t apply to schools that would have given me large scholarships doesn’t mean it’s the best idea. So send those apps to the reach schools, but also include safeties. When you get all your acceptances and money offers in, then you can sit down (like Ginny, ever smarter than I, did), look at employment statistics, quality of life, loan repayment programs, etc., and make a good choice.

And it’s good to reconsider it. Every potential law student should reconsider it. You are about to put yourself up to 200K in debt, and make a decisions that will affect the rest of your life. Even with a full ride, you are giving up three years of your life. Thinking about those choices long and hard is a sign of true intelligence, more than any silly four hour standardized test.

Then, if after you gotten all relevant admission and financial aid information and reconsidered it fully, you still want to go to law school, you can be confident in that choice. If not, then there are thousands of other career paths out there that don’t need a JD.

So don’t stress. Apparently at MSS we recommend some gender stereotypic activities to look into the next few days to relax. So go look at LOL Cats/masturbate. Whichever works for you. (See featured video on the homepage if you don’t know what I’m talking about)
